The Town of New Amsterdam is located on the Eastern
Coast of Guyana ,
which over looks the Atlantic Ocean . New
Amsterdam developed as a settlement, for the Dutch besides Nassau
located 55 miles up the Berbice River and Canje
River . Around 1784 the Dutch
relocated the town. The name New Amsterdam is colonial related, it originated
from the Providence Amsterdam
in Holland . New
Amsterdam was established between 1785-1790 with the government for Berbice, at
that time the town was little more than a forest settlement with little house,
no roads and no drains. Since then New Amsterdam
quickly started to develop, because of its fertile soils which are very great
for the cultivations. Some of Guyana
mains exports which are sugar and rice are grown vastly throughout the Berbice
region as well as cattle raring.

third of three siblings. As a child in Guyana ,
Bacchus undertook a few assignments to appear as a model in advertisements, but
her career choice was suppressed by the reality of life in the Ancient County . However, upon migrating, almost
four years ago, the urge to pose before the cameras resurfaced.
Photographers
quickly developed interest in Shanice Bacchus, and, over the years, she has
fallen deeper and deeper in love with the art of modelling. For her, it is not
just about standing in front of the camera, but rather about doing something
she loves.

artist who is moving forward quickly and inexorably in the music industry. And

long way. With this career choice, she has been featured in ‘Source’ and ‘No
Labelz’ magazines, in which she has received a three-page model spread.
Two years
before migrating, she attended a summer sewing program in New
Amsterdam hosted by Minerva Peters, where she learnt the art of
becoming a seamstress. But, over the years, she has been inactive in that
hobby, pursuing what she thought were bigger things. She got married in 2009,
changing her name to Shanice Jones; and in August 2010, she started to showcase
her hidden talent of designing when she opened her boutique, Her collection has
since turned numerous heads, and has been improving constantly. It has been
featured in several photo shoots and fashion shows in the U.S.
