Mashramani is the next big upcoming event in Guyana its Guyana’s Carnival. Mashramani, often abbreviated to "Mash", is an annual festival that celebrates Guyana becoming a Republic in 1970. The festival, usually held on February 23 – Guyanese Republic Day – includes a parade, music, games and cooking and is intended to commemorate the "Birth of the Republic. The word "Mashramani" is derived from an Amerindian language and in translation means "the celebration of a job well done"

Cheong-Leen was born in Hong Kong and has Australian citizenship. Her father Hilton Cheong-Leen was born in Georgetown, Guyana but is of Chinese descent and her mother Pauline Chow is from Beijing. In her youth, Cheong-Leen graduated from the Royal Ballet in U.K., she also performed at the Paris Opera in France. The 1933 Denham Suspension Bridge

In November 1933 a bridge was constructed over the Garraway Stream, linking Mahdia to Bartica by trail. This cable suspension bridge was named “Denham Bridge” after the then Colonial Governor Sir Edward Denham. The Denham Suspension Bridge, which is also called the Garraway Stream Bridge, served as a vital access to the early Gold and Diamond fields of Guyana. The bridge was erected directly over the Potaro River.
