Guyanese culture/food: reflects the influence of Africa, Indian and Nepalese, Amerindian, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and British cultures. Thus resulting in many tasty
dishes and food, Guyana
is a country built on six different ethnic groups of people.
Guyana is one of a few
mainland territories of South
America that is considered to be
a part of the Caribbean region. Guyanese culture shares many
commonalities with the cultures of islands in the West Indies,
particularly in the coastal regions of the country. Connections to other South
American cultures also play an important part in Guyanese culture. The
influence of Brazilian culture,
for example, is particularly visible in the south of the country.
